Burbank, CA and Oslo, Norway - June 1, 2004
Opera Software today announced that it has selected a set of Iacta LLC's Games4TV(tm)
games for inclusion in its new Opera 7 iTV Software Development Kit (SDK).
Manufacturers who license Opera 7 for new iTV devices will also be able to
use the Games4TV set for testing and demonstration of their hardware to
customers.
Most iTV applications can be developed in HTML and JavaScript and rendered
with Opera's iTV browser. This standards based approach saves Original
Design Manufacturers (ODMs), Set-top box (STB) manufactures and operators
significant time and money, and reduces the irritating churn inherent in
most iTV applications in use today.
"We're very pleased to be able to include Iacta's Games4TV as part of
Opera's SDK for iTV," says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software ASA.
"With years of iTV experience and one of the largest libraries of
well-tested games in its Games4TV package, Iacta demonstrates the advanced
potential Opera's iTV browser unlocks for set-top box manufacturers and
operators."
"We are delighted to be working with Opera to bring our popular Games4TV
to the Opera 7 iTV browser," said Laura Buddine, CEO, Iacta LLC. "Opera 7
for iTV has the advanced features and
DOM2 compliance that allow us to make dynamic game experiences in the
browser alone, without having to use a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) or other
plugins."
The starter Games4TV set is available for deployment licensing from Opera.
They are easily customized for any language, and do not require a network
connection for play. Iacta has more
than 40 games in its Games4TV library, all of which can be provided for
Opera 7.
